все общение сводится к такому дикому примитиву, что мне самому страшно
Та же ерунда. Раньше в хагвонах еще хоть какая-то практика постоянная была с использованием более-менее обширной лексики, сейчас же тихий ужас. Исправлять за корейцами их конглиш врагу не пожелаешь
но что могу отметить - то что грамматика стала на порядок хуже, чем то, с чем я приезжал все общение сводится к такому дикому примитиву, что мне самому страшно
Аналогично .... А ещё можно тоже самое на английском?

OK, I've checked it out. she said that it depends on how formal this piece of writing is. In the formal report "to " should be written down. In the informal writing or in speaking you can drop "to".

Dear Sommelier I’d like to thank you for being concerned about us wasting our time. It is obvious that you consider this activity as being useless. Well, this may be true for some but not for others. Please note that participation is entirely voluntarily and people that are not interested may simply pass by. As for the English-speaking forums I couldn’t agree more that they are useful and I believe that so is this initiative. It is not a substitute for them but rather another resource of the language aid. In my view Russian-speaking forum may have some advantages that English-speaking forum may not and vice versa. Should you wish to continue our discussion in depth feel free to say so. Lastly I am not a teacher , I am just an ordinary student. I look forward to hearing from you Frankly yours

No one has got round to changing the 10 cents coin slots in public phones. похоже что есть определенный паттерн,заметьте что речь идет о действия как бы растянутых по времени.Другой пример: The point is that people grew unaccustomed to thinking and acting in a responsible and independent way. думаю что если иметь в виду длител;ные действия можно можно обозначать это инг окончанием.
во нашел обьяснение по науке. When we put a verb after a preposition, we normally use an –ing form, not an infinitive.
* I am fond of watching movies. (NOT I am fond of to watch movies.) * John was arrested for stealing a policeman’s helmet. (NOT … for to steal …) * Can you talk without opening your mouth? * I am thinking of writing a novel. * You must abstain from talking to such people. * We got the job finished by burning the midnight oil. * We look forward to hearing from you. то есть в данном случае to является предлогом а не частицей к глаголу, поэтому ставится герундий. действително получаем растянутое по времени действие. то есть всегда будет We look forward to meeting you. Not we look forward to meet you. We look forward to seeing you. Not we look forward to see you. надо запомнить что любой оборот имеющий прицепленный предлог будет после себя цеплять герундий. Например I am used to brushing my teeth twice a day

в английском это всего лишь источник помощи "a source of supply, support, or aid, esp. one that can be readily drawn upon when needed". виноват, не стал переводить это слово, но вы тоже хороши могли бы прочесть Енглиш версию. там то это ясно написано.
У мну англицкие буквы только по утрам пишутся. А уже почти вечер
Начните вы, а мы подхватим. Мож давайте один начнет (несколько предложений), а остальные подхватывают, чтобы подходило по смыслу (т.е. типа "продолжи рассказ"). И как раз анализ ошибок сразу проводить.

Maximum in two month I am going to take TOEFL iBT. Writing section of the test is real challenge for me. So today I wrote the following essay and now want you to read it and give me you ideas about it.
Do you think I am ready to take the exam or should I practice more? What should I do to improve writing skills? What is odd with my essay?
Any ideas are welcome.
Some people think that studying a foreign language in the country where the language is spoken is the best way to learn the language. Others think that learning a foreign language while living in your own country is preferable. Discuss both situations. Which point of view do you agree with? Give reasons.
For some people studying a foreign language in the country where the language is spoken is very important. While others can learn the language in any country. After comparison two situations that I mentioned above I came to conclusion that, studying in the country where the language is spoken has many advantages for students such as avaibility of authentic materials, everyday practice and pure pronunciation of teachers.
Nowadays we have a lot of books on language learning but a few of them can be called good book. Many students used to find mistakes in these books. In my opinion avaibility of authentic materials is one of the most important advantages of studying the language in the country where the language is spoken.
As we know everyday practice makes learning the language interesting. Those students who are learning the language can go outside for shopping - for example – and practice speaking skills while talking to shop-keeper. Another good example of everyday practice could be watching local TV programs in language that you are learning improves your listening skills.
Third reason to go to abroad for study a foreign language is pure pronunciation of teachers. It is not a secret that even after many years of learning the language most people have accent. The same can be said about teachers. Therefore for a student who is learning a foreign language it is important advantage to have a teacher with pure pronunciation to imitate.
In conclusion I would like to say that everyone has to choose where to study a foreign language, rather in the country or outside the country. On the other hand, those advantages that I mentioned above and tried to give reasons should be considered carefully by students. Because, as a rule, they are important aspects of learning any language.

I think in this sentence "crucial" is more suitable than "critical".

I corrected grammar but the context. In my view the conclusion is a bit ambiguous. It does not clearly state your final opinion.
For some people studying a foreign language in the country where the language is spoken is critical. Others can learn the language in any country. Having compared tow situations that I mentioned above I came to the conclusion that studying in the country where the language is spoken has some advantages such as easy access to authentic materials, every day practice and good pronunciation offered by teachers.
Nowadays we have a lot of books on language learning but few of them can be called good. Many students find mistakes in these books. In my opinion an easy access to authentic materials is one of the most important advantages of studying abroad. It is well known that everyday practice makes learning language interesting. Those students who learn the language can go shopping and practice speaking skills while talking to a shop-keeper. Another good example of everyday practice is watching local TV programs which could improve your listening skills.
A third reason to go abroad for studying a foreign language is good pronunciation by teachers. It is not a secret that even after many years of learning the language most people retain their accent. The same can be said about teachers. Therefore it is an important advantage to have a teacher with good pronunciation skills.
It is obvious that everyone has to choose where to study a foreign language whether in or outside the country. Those advantages that I mentioned above and tried to give reasons for should be considered carefully as they are important aspects of learning any language

Amigo, do you need help only from sterner? Can I express my point of view? I think in this case, used "the language" cuz it is definite which language they are talking about. i.e. everybody knows which language is meant.
I was always confused in the situations like that, to be honest, let's wait sterner. He can explain in details asking professors. I asked the native speaker just now and his opinion"by teachers" is fine, but why so he couldn't explain.
Ну хорошо, а почему тогда все предложение начинается с "a" а не "the"?
Нашла только одно предложение которое начинается на "а". A third reason to go abroad for studying a foreign language is good pronunciation by teachers.
В этом случае артикль "а" употребляется, т.к. обычно в конструкциях "прилаг.(не превосх.ст.) + суш.ед.ч." употребляется неопред. артикль

докладываю, поговорил с двумя спецами. вообщем с ordinal numbers исползуются как the так и a. the исползуется если есть определенная hierarchy этих самых ризонов. например, ризон первый, ризон второй и так далее. другими словами имеется что то вроде order of importance ,или же речь идет именно об этом третьем ризоне. если этой самой hierarchy нет, а ризон всего лишь является еще одним, например третьим, то должно быть a. в данном примере третий ризон не был специфически третьим, а был как бы еще одним. вообщем спецы говорят здесь должно быть a .
It's clear,CoMMa , but that could explain not only the professionals. I have another question: why sometimes we need to put article and in the other cases we don't? And also it is interesting: is it necessary to put an article before the singular noun? If not, in which cases? Plz., respond.

однако такой можно сказать глобальный вопрос подняла дорогая Нимфа-манка. я не могу дать исчерпывающий ответ , но если есть конкретный вопрос с примером, то проблем нет , думаю разберемся. PS another thing to let you know. Remember that phrase " inspired with love for this forum"?. Your dictionary translates it as "проникнутся любовью к". It just dawned on me that you could replace it by saying smth like "I have been filled with love for this forum".

Sorry if I have disappointed you. To tell the truth I don't know a lot about grammar rules. The way I check articles I simply try to see if it sounds natural. It works pretty well, but not always. Sometimes mistakes yet creep in. Yes, it is good to know all rules by heart, but I think it is not feasible. Not much we can do about it but keep practicing.

Hi Here is a small bit of my report. Please feel free to comment. (I) Introduction
Standard Soap Corporation is a privately owned company that specializes in producing soaps and specialty chemicals. Initially the focus was on producing specialty chemicals for the textile enterprises. The company pursued the low cost producer strategy targeting customers with high volume orders. Its products were primarily used in manufacturing operations. Collapse of the textile industry in the region caused the company to move its sales efforts to the new market segment. It shifted from the low cost goods manufacturer to the product differentiator position (Figure 1). This strategic repositioning allowed the company to enjoy rising sales and keep its production lines booked to capacity. However, those changes gave rise to other issues such as the increased scale of operations and new expectations for performance. Product excellence and superior appearance became a major concern. In the 1990’s it was evident that the company reached its threshold in the capacity of the small enterprise. The management was losing control over operations because the traditional information system was not providing accurate information. Also new product expectations and changes in customer base resulted in a more complex job environment that current information system could not cope with effectively. This report concentrates on analyses of the current situation, evaluates the implementation of ACMS and considers the trade-offs between benefits and costs in implementing the new costing system. Also the report considers some recommendations that would help to improve the overall performance of the company.

Hi there This is from a test I have had at my Uni. You are required to fill in the gaps with relevant words. In each sentence the same words should be used. Example: I must SEND OFF this parcel before the post office closes. We gave him a goof SEND OFF when he left for England. Hint: use phrasal verbs and nouns. Task 1 The government is accused of a____ _____ of events. There is no point of trying to ____ ______ the mistake. Enjoy
Good try. Here is the model answer: The government is accused of a COVER UP of events. There is no point of trying to COVER UP the mistake.
Some remarks. You probably meant "unfortunate series". Also you've done the all hard work to find the right phrasal verb and unfortunately didn't simply put it into the first sentence. Bad luck, you wouldn't earn a full mark, but you will get a half mark. Keep on doing it.
sterner1 oops, sorry. I hadn't enough time yesturday, so I just read 1st sentence and decided to put "coming", but let me try once more ... the thing is : that in the 1st sentence I wanna input a noun and in the 2d I would fill in with a gerund (verb), gimme a hint plz.

Last one you didn't pick up is ROSE. The correct word is ROADS. Overall you did well.
Task nine. In the sentence below fill in the gaps with the contractions that could be used in informal language. Afterwards write the full form of the contraction. Example: Where _____ you put the newspaper? Where 'VE you put the newspaper? Where HAVE you put the newspaper?
a) The film _____ ____ started yet, so we _____ got lots of time.
b) I suppose it _____ closed by now, so I _____ come back tomorrow.
c) A: I ____ ___ ____ had that last slice of pizza. B: I told you it _____ make you feel sick.
d) I _____ ____ bought some more coffee if I ______ known it _____ run out.
Where 'VE you put the newspaper? Where HAVE you put the newspaper?

вы можете писать русский эквивалент, однако я не сторонник этого. по моему мнению надо сразу писать на английском не опираясь на русский перевод. например, натив спикер почти наверняка скажет main course. рускоговорящий также почти наверняка скажет second course . почему? потому что держит в голове русский эквивалент.

I prefer to rewrite in the following way: I have learnt two more languages (in addition to English) and got in touch with a thousand people.
Instead of "in addition to" it is possible to use "besides" without any prepositions. Instead of "a thousand people" it is possible to use "many thousands of people".

небольшой комментарий по поводу использования русской идиомы" высасывать из пальца". не рекомендуется давать дословный перевод идиоматических выражений. англичане будут иметь трудности в понимании. намного лучше использовать близкую по смыслу английскую идиому. например если вы хотите сказать своей подруге “моя лапочка “не стоит говорить “my little paw”, just say “ my sweet-heart”.

We discussed some standard phrases that are used at restaurants. I posted the following message: “Also it is perfectly OK to say " I would like a table by the window"
The reply was :” It is better to say "It is perfect", but not "It is perfectly".
Could you comment on this one please?
Thank you ________________________________________ Answer Dear Sterner Guess what? You're right.
'OK' is the same as 'all right'. You are describing something as being all right - as it is a 'thing' (noun), you must be using an adjective.
'Perfectly' is an adverb, but here it is not working with a verb, it is doing the 'other job' that adverbs have in English: modifying an adjective.
Hence, 'it is perfectly OK' is the same as saying 'there is nothing (at all) wrong with it'.
'Perfect' in this sentence would have nothing to go with - you would have to say 'it is perfect AND OK' which is tautological (saying the same thing twice) and tautology definitely doesn't work when you have two different registers (strong and neutral - it can't be both).

If the author of this letter would be a native speaker of English,at the end of it there would be something like C U or bye,was glad to help you, have a nice .... and so on...They never finish letters the way your expert-friend did. They are too well-behaived for that kind of writing. Are you sure you friend is not from ....Russia ?The end of the letter sounds cold-hearted and really sloppy....
I bet that you have never ever been sitting next to a native speaker of English. My "sloppy" sentence is absolutely common.
