◎ Notice about H1N1 Vaccinations ◎


□ Eligible vaccine recipients and vaccination period
- H1N1 vaccinations are to be administered for infants and children (6months ~ 6 years old), pregnant women, and people with chronic diseases at local clinics and hospitals.
- The cost of the vaccine is paid for by the government, but reservations must be made in advance at local clinics and hospitals in order to receive a vaccination.

※ ‘Children 36 months of age and older not attending school' includes children aged 6 years and older who don't attend school
※ To qualify for the vaccination, pregnant women must be pregnant during the vaccination period, and this doesn't include women who give a birth during this period.
※ People with chronic diseases: The health insurance evaluation center sends notices out regarding those with chronic diseases.
※ Due to possible changes in vaccine approvals or production, this vaccination schedule is subject to change

□ Vaccinations are NOT mandatory. Even if you are an eligible recipient, getting the vaccination is your own choice.

□ Details
※ Visit the clinic or hospital at which you make your reservation to get your vaccination
- The fee to be paid at the clinic or hospital for the vaccination is 15,000 won
- Regardless of your place of residence, you can choose the clinic or hospital where you want to get your vaccination
※ It is possible for those who are scheduled to get a vaccination through a school or at the community health clinic to get vaccinated at a private clinic or hospital instead, but you will have to pay the cost of the vaccination.
※ The Vaccination Help Site (http://nip.cdc.go.kr) opens on November 23rd at 9am to take reservations for vaccinations for children over 3 years old, including those not attending school (reservations can be made by telephone, in-person, or online).

☞ Making reservations
- Period: Starting on November 18th 2009 reservations will be taken in the order in which they are received (starting with infants and toddlers).
- How to make a reservation:
Online reservation: Visit the Vaccination Help Site (http://nip.cdc.go.kr), click on '위탁의료기관 검색’ and make a reservation at a clinic or hospital (reservation website is in Korean).
Telephone/in-person reservations: Call or visit a clinic or hospital and give your name, alien registration card number, and contact information to make a reservation (if you don’t have an alien registration card you can get a temporary number at a clinic or hospital to use for this process). The Itaewon-Hannam Global Village Center can help you to find a clinic or hospital in your area, and assist with making reservations for a vaccination.
For all reservations, the date reserved for vaccination must be a minimum of two weeks after the date on which the reservation is made.

※ From this point on, any additional clinics or hospitals that are added to the list of those giving vaccinations can be checked on the Vaccination Help Site (http://nip.cdc.go.kr)

□ General population vaccinations
Besides the vaccines purchased by the government, more will be distributed in the market, to private clinics and hospitals, as soon as permission is obtained from the Korean FDA. Then the general population will also be able to get a vaccination (permission for general distribution is expected in January 2010).

□ Other details
※ Healthy seniors aged 65 years and older will be able to get a free vaccination at the Community Health Center after January 2010 and will be notified later.
※ For students in elementary, middle, and high schools free vaccinations are now underway at the schools.
